Development and design of novel multiFUNctional PEO COATings – FUNCOAT

Graphene Energy is implementing a project financed by European Funds, entitled:

„Development and design of novel multiFUNctional PEO COATings –  FUNCOAT”

Project number 823942

Project co-financed by the European Union under the programme H2020-EU.1.3. – EXCELLENT SCIENCE – Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions, topic MSCA-RISE-2018 – Research and Innovation Staff Exchange

Project value:

EUR 1 301 800,00

Net EU contribution for the Graphene Energy LTD Company

EUR 96 600,00

Funded by the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions programme, the FUNCOAT project plans to develop multifunctional surfaces by implementing eco-friendly plasma electrolytic oxidation. This surface coating technology produces oxide coatings on the surface of metals to impart high corrosion and wear resistance. Project work will be geared towards further enhancing fault tolerance, protection against corrosive damage and tribological behaviour. Moreover, researchers will seek to add a set of less common functionalities in the coating, endowing it with improved photocatalytic activity, thermal and electrical conductivity, and magnetic behaviour. These extra properties could help extend the number of applications where this surface treatment process can find use.

The GE company is responsible for development of materials with different functionalities that are used for PEO coating of light metals alloys.
