Laser Ceramics – LACE

Graphene Energy is implementing a project financed by European Funds, entitled:

„LAser Ceramics” – LACE

Project number 101182995

Project co-financed by European Defence Fund (EDF)

Project value:

EUR 3 998 498.47

Net EU contribution for the Graphene Energy LTD Company

EUR 229 259.00

The objective is to develop new transparent ceramics as laser gain media to drive the advancement of this new class of lasers. In fact, the production of laser-grade ceramics is a complex task, often linked to patented processes that require specific approaches for the selected materials. The current availability of laser ceramic materials is limited, and only a few manufacturers are capable of producing and delivering samples for research purposes.

Building on the solid existing expertise in ceramic development in the EU, fully integrated into this project, we aim to establish the production capacity for high-performance laser-grade transparent ceramics made from broadband thulium-based laser gain materials for chirped pulse amplification, and to develop advanced custom multilayer coatings needed to deliver fully operational ceramic laser gain media.

Graphene Energy is responsible for the synthesis and characterization of nanopowders.
